Had To Happen Sooner Or Later - Michael Jackson Alive Rumors (With Video)
A video has leaked onto the net which people are claiming proves Michael Jackson is still alive. The footage shows somebody climbing out of the back of Michael Jackson’s coroner van (the license was matched). Do I believe all this? No. But every important death needs a theory. Elvis had one, 2Pac had one. Now it’s Michael Jackson’s turn
Omarion Dropped From Label Due To Leak, Changes Album Name
Remember that song we posted earlier by Omarion, titled “I Get It In?” Well, not only was it bad, but it looks like it might have cost Omarion his position at his label Young Money. After the song leaked, label President Mack Maine tweeted:
“ATTN: Omarion is no longer Young Money … the song they leaked ft. Wayne is not official .. good luck 2 him in his future”
However, Omarion claims to the contrary, stating that he asked to be released, as stated in his tweet:
“There’s alot of people thinking i got dropped from Y.m that has never nor will ever b the kase I asked to be.. released,”
Omarion had a similar departure from Epic Records in 2008, and was only at Young Money for two months prior to his departure. He seems to be having commitment issues as he bounces from label to label.
Adding to those commitment issues, Omarion seems to have changed his name for his upcoming album, from A New Me, to Ollusion.
Reviewing all that, the situation is pretty ridiculous. First, what’s with all the twitter announcements? Is that really how we get our news today? Second, I like the conflict. Did Omarion get dropped? Was it an intentional attempt at getting out of the label?
A lot of questions on the situation, but based on the song, all I can say is, who cares?
Mariah Carey, Nervous Over Whitney Houston, Cancelling Appearances, Delaying Album
As Whitney Houston prepares to release I Look To You and Mariah Carey finishes up Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, it’s expected that rumors about the two singers would pop up. As such, take this with a grain of salt as it could just be someone stirring up controversy. The rumor is that Mariah Carey is fearful that she’s going to be overshadowed by Whitney Houston’s eventful return to R&B.
The rumors are based around the following pieces of “evidence.” First, Mariah Carey’s album, originally expected to dominate with the single and release date coming before Whitney Houston’s, now is expected to be overshadowed as Mariah Carey’s album will be released only a few weeks after Whitneys. Mariah Carey is now under a new promotional team, having let go her previous manager Benny Medina in 2008. What’s more, Toni Braxton and Monica of 90s classic R&B will be entering the fray this fall.
The album’s release date has been delayed now several times and is currently targeted for a September 29th date, after it was originally delayed until September 15th. This invites suspicion that the album isn’t actually finished yet, which makes me wonder what the quality of this release is going to be.
What’s more, Mariah Carey’s been canceling all of the promotional appearances for her upcoming album. An August 28th appearance on the Today Show was canceled and will now be done by Miley Cyrus instead. Other cancellations include her spots on VH1 Storytellers, Clear Channel Tribeca show, Receiving Walk of Fame Hollywood Star, and the MTV Video Music Awards.
What’s going on here Mariah?
Unreleased Michael Jackson Tracks on Missing Hard Drives
Well, here’s something dramatic. News came out that Michael Jackson had copies of unreleased songs with producers including Ne-Yo, Akon, and Will.I.Am on hard drives in his rented Holmby Hills, Calif., mansion. When Michael Jackson died, the apartment was emptied by his family (who took EVERYTHING, including rented furniture), and the drives were reportedly lost.
Michael Jackson’s estate is trying to obtain the drives, however, it is suspected that LaToya Jackson has come into possession of them. Many of the new songs may be the only copies, as Will.I.Am reported that he doesn’t have copies of any of the tracks he did with Michael.
According to Michael Jackson’s estate lawyers, there were over 100 unreleased songs, including many tracks from the Bad era. Visit Billboard for the full story.
Jermaine Dupri Calls Out Def Jam
According to the Prophet, Jermaine Dupri recently called out Def Jam. According to Jermaine Dupri, the executives at Def Jam (where he previously had a position), are all money hungry and just focused on getting their own things. Straight from his mouth:
“They [weren't] prepared for a person like myself. They [were] basically out for themselves. I never was on a team like that. I was always on a team that was supportive of what I wanted to do and this time it was more like ‘we need you to do this.’ People know me to create new artists [and to] continuously come with new people. Once I realized I was basically on my own in that building, I said ‘it’s time for me to get out of here.’ I saw the decline of Def Jam and I was just like ‘I don’t want to be apart of a sinking ship.’
“[There's] definitely hard feelings because I’m not cool with people stunting my growth. I’m a person that keeps growing. Everybody knows the history of Jermaine Dupri. Everybody knows what I’ve done from day one from one group to the next, it was all new artists and you have to continue doing that. If you get in the way of that you stunt that growth. They [have] bigger problems to deal with, I mean I’m not running around like ‘f*ck Def Jam!’ I’m just saying I would not really deal with them ever again…It feels like it’s a resurgence of independent labels…It just feels like the right thing for me.”
Honestly, it’s sad but true. Every day it seems like another artist is complaining about the suffocation they’re seeing at Def Jam. But it’s not just Def Jam, it’s most of the music industry. As the labels get fixed purely on the dollar signs, the artists become a manipulative means to an end, and are no longer seen as the musicians they are. Interesting to hear Jermaine Dupri speak out on it and hopefully he does something about it on his new pursuits.
