Boyz II Men Announces New Cover Album - November 10, 2009
Boyz II Men is at it again. R&B’s biggest group during the 90s is planning their third cover album (following Throwback Volume 1 and Motown: Journey Through Hitsville USA), which they’ve announced is due out November 10, 2009. Shawn Stockman has been slowly trickling out information about the album, as has the group as a whole through their YouTube channel (BoyzIIMenTV). So far, the only track confirmed is Journey’s “Open Arms” with production by Randy Jackson of American Idol.
Here are a couple of Shawn’s tweets that detail the album:
On the way to take my son swimming, then off to the studio. Album is slated for Nov.10 release. Mark it on it calendar!!
The goal was to finish 3 songs done, we got 4 done!! May do 5! Songs are sounding great! Can’t wait for yall to here ‘em!
For the record, it is a cover album of artists I don’t think people would expect us to cover! But I’m shocked at how good they’re coming out
And the name of the album is on my 3 finger ring I just got made. Anyone knows what my ring reads?
The ring Shawn speaks of can be seen in this video
However, it’s real hard to read (you can see it pretty good round 1:15 and near the end). I tried to read it but the best I could see was Kiss 28 or Dill something. I’ve included pictures of it below for you guys to try and parse.

Overall, I’m excited about the album as Boyz II Men did a great job with their last cover album, Motown: Journey Through Hitsville USA which received a Grammy nomination. Still, I worry that the group will become known as a cover artist since they’ve done so little original material as of late.
You can hear a BRIEF snippet below from the guys in the studio as they bicker with Randy Jackson.
