New R&B Music - Dru Hill - It’s You

Dru Hill’s got a new song out titled “It’s You.” The song continues their trend of modern sounds but finally breaks away from all the voice synthesizers. The track still isn’t that great, but it’s a HUGE step up from what we’ve been hearing by the guys as of late. If they can keep moving in this direction, there might be some hope yet for the new album. Still, they’ve got a ways to go to prove themselves.

New R&B Music - Dru Hill - Makin Luv

On the opposite side of the “how to do good R&B music” spectrum, we have Dru Hill’s “Makin Luv” from their upcoming album Indrupendence Day. Seriously, can these guys still even sing? Of all the big albums this year, this one is probably my least anticipated. The chorus is outrageously synthesized and the verse vocals aren’t strong at all. Please Dru Hill, find your old talent. You need it.

New R&B Music - Sisqo - Girl You Can Get It

Sisqo of Dru Hill fame, has a new song out titled “Girl You Can Get It.” The track is produced by Petey Pablo and features more AutoTune. The track… is pretty crappy, and definitely is nothing in the vein of “Incomplete” or “Dream.” I’ve been really disappointed with both Dru Hill and Sisqo’s efforts as of late, but check it out yourself and let me know what you think.

New Dru Hill Music Part 2 - Rain, Rule The World

Here’s part two of the new music by Dru Hill. From the upcoming album, Indrupendence Day, we’ve got the songs Rain and Rule The World.

Dru Hill - Rain

The first song in this set, Dru Hill’s Rain sounds like it could be interesting. The feeling in the vocals is deep and soulful, though the modifications make it hard to hear fully. There seems to be way too much focus on the production with these tracks. Overall, this song has potential, but it needs to tone down the modifications.

Dru Hill - Rule The World

Featuring a styling guitar and cool flow at the beginning, Rule The World has potential. Of course, it sounds like there is some AutoTune on Sisqo’s voice at the beginning. This song sounds like it borrows heavily from another song, and may even be a cover but I’m not pulling the name from the top of my head right now. It’s an okay song, but could be better.

New Dru Hill Blowout Part One - Indrupendence Day, Sold Out Love

A TON of Dru Hill music from their upcoming Indrupendence Day album was leaked recently. We’re going to divide it up over two posts to better look at it. First, we’ve got Indrupendence Day and Sold Out Love.

Dru Hill - Indrupendence Day

The title track from the album. It’s very uptempo, reminding me more of Sisqo’s solo work more than Dru Hill’s releases. The song sounds like it’s featuring some AutoTune and really, is pretty weak. I’d like to see a ripping ballad, not this up-tempo trash with weak vocals.

Dru Hill - Sold Out Love

The beat for Sold Out Love sounded pretty cool, but the song sounds too experimental. The song has a varying flow but is mostly boring. The vocals are weak and the lyrics are hard to understand. Overall, it’s a weak song and worth skipping. There’s also a lot of cursing, which is a no-no for me in R&B music.

So far, I’ve been really disappointed with Dru Hill’s return to R&B. We’ll have to check out the next two tracks to see what they’ve got.
