Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupri Go Separate Ways, Won’t Appear On The Remedy

In a very forceful statement, Jagged Edge has closed the door with Jermaine Dupri. When asked about future collaborations between the two, Jagged Edge said they were done with Jermaine Dupri and that he would not be working with them on their upcoming 2010 release, The Remedy. The statements seem kind of strange.

According to Brandon Casey of Jagged Edge:

“I’m not really looking to ever work with Jermaine again. It’s not beef. It’s no love lost. I just think we’re on two different pages and that’s fine. He can be where he’s at and we can be where we’re heading.”

It’s not beef… you just never want to see him again? So is this the music equivalent to “I don’t want to date anymore, I just want to be friends. The kind of friends that never see each other.”

Slip-N-Slide Founder Talks Jagged Edge, The Remedy

As we’ve talked about in the past, Jagged Edge has a new album titled The Remedy targeted for a 2010 release. The album is a follow-up to the group’s commercially disappointing 2007 release, Baby Makin’ Project, which led to the group’s release from Def Jam.

Now signed to Slip-N-Slide Records, Jagged Edge is in the studio working on The Remedy. Slip-N-Slide’s founder, Ted Lucas, recently spoke on his work with the group, stating:

ā€œI’m excited to welcome Jagged Edge to the Slip-N-Slide Records family. They are one of the preeminent R&B groups of our time. They are going to pick up right where they left off and bring their fans some great new hit songs.ā€

Jagged Edge - The Remedy - 2010 - Featuring… Everybody?

Jagged Edge is gearing up for the follow-up to their album Baby Makin Project, released in 2007 on Def Jam Records. Their new album, titled The Remedy, will be released on Slip-N-Slide Records in 2010, and seems to be building up quite a list of features. According to group member Kyle Norman:

“So far we’re in talks with Rick Ross and Plies. We talked to Jay-Z about doing a song on the last album, so we’re going to try to pursue that again, and we’ve also been chatting with Snoop [Dogg].”

Okay, so we’ve got Rick Ross, Plies, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg…They also plan to feature R&B newcomers Jarvis and Chelsea.

The album is an attempt at “a new creation, a new birth,” according to Norman.

That’s cool and all… but let’s make sure the group makes their own imprint on the record too.
